Houston Marathon Race Report

Decided to run the Houston Marathon back in June 2015.

Fast forward to January 2016 when I accidentally replied to Facebook post about pacing someone in the Houston Marathon Facebook page. I put on the post sub 2:45 or bust! Well little did I know that a girl from Chicago name Chirine Njeim from Lebanon needed a sub 2:45 to qualify for the Rio Olympics for her country.

Chirine Njeim

Fast forward to race day! Met with Chirine and her husband we talked about tactics and what not.
For the Houston Marathon I upped my mileage from 30 mpw to 65 mpw just to get fit for the race.

Took Chirine through 9 miles but in mile 10 I had to go pee and that stopped made me fall behind by 30 seconds and that's how I stayed for the next 17 miles viewing all her moves from the back.

I ended running a 2:44:49 while Chirine ended up qualifying with a 2:44:14
